# Beyond ModCon 1st Edition Rules

## Contest Rules

Welcome to the **Beyond Modding Contest**!

These rules are written to keep the contest fair, simple, and fun for everyone.

***

### 1. How to Participate

To enter the contest, you must:

1. **Register your mod here:** `[NOT AVAILABLE YET]`\
   Registration should only take about 3 minutes.
2. **Add every person who is working on the mod**\
   If you are working as a team, make sure every team member is listed on the registered mod.
3. **Publish your mod before the development period ends**\
   Your mod must be published on Beyond mod.io before July 18 2026.

You can register as many different mods as you want through the form, but each mod must be registered separately.

***

### 2. New Submission Requirement

Only **new submissions** are allowed.

Your mod must **not** have been published on Beyond mod.io before **June 6, 2026**.

You may work on an idea/project you had before, but the actual mod submission for this contest must be new to Beyond mod.io.

***

### 3. Contest Schedule

#### Development Period

**June 6, 2026 — July 18, 2026**

You have 6 weeks to build and publish your mod.

Your mod must be published before the end of the development period on **July 18, 2026 to be eligible**.

***

#### Qualification Period

**July 19, 2026 — August 1, 2026**

During this 2-week period, playtime will be counted.

At the end of the qualification period, we will select **4 finalists per category**.

There will be **16 finalists total** if there are 4 categories.

***

#### Jury Period

**August 2, 2026 — August 8, 2026**

The jury will have one week to test the finalist mods and give their verdict.

Judges may look at things like:

* How fun the mod is
* How polished it feels
* How creative it is
* How well it works in Beyond
* Whether it follows the contest rules

***

#### Event Day

**August 8, 2026**

August 8 will be the live event day.

During the live event, finalists will be ranked based on:

* Community vote
* Jury judgment

Your final rank will determine which prize you receive.

***

### 4. Categories

Each mod must be submitted into the correct category.

#### Brand-New Map

A completely original map built from scratch for Beyond. It must not have been published, released, or used in any other game or mod before.

#### Existing Map Port

A map that already existed and has been brought into Beyond. This includes maps adapted or converted from previous projects.

Entrants must follow the licensing and permission rules for any original content used.

#### Item Mod

A mod that adds or changes playable items in Beyond. This includes firearms, melee weapons, grenades, gear, tools, or other usable items.

#### Game Mode Mod

A custom game mode, ruleset, or gameplay experience built for Beyond Sandbox. Examples include Hide & Seek, Battle Royale, Prop Hunt, or any other mode that changes how players play the game.

***

### 5. Asset Rights & Licensing

Participants are responsible for making sure they have the legal right to use every asset included in their submission.

To qualify for judging, finalist placement, winning, or receiving any prize, all assets used in the project must be properly licensed, owned, or otherwise permitted for use.

Accepted assets include, but are not limited to:

* Assets made from scratch by the participant.
* Assets purchased or legally obtained from marketplaces such as Fab.
* Assets released under Creative Commons or similar licenses, as long as all license requirements are followed, including attribution where required.
* Assets used with direct permission from the original creator.

Submissions may include temporary or placeholder assets during development, but before an entry can be selected as a winner or receive a prize, the participant must provide proof that they have the right to use all included assets.

Entries that contain assets without proper rights, licenses, permissions, or required attribution may be disqualified.

***

### 6. Team Rules

You can participate alone or as a team.

If you work as a team:

* Every team member must be added to the registered mod.
* The team is responsible for deciding how to split any prize.
* Only listed team members will be recognized as official participants.
* Do not add people who did not actually work on the mod.

***

### 7. Multiple Submissions

You can register and submit more than one mod.

Each mod will be judged separately.

However, each mod must follow all contest rules and must be registered before the deadline.

***

### 8. Mod Updates

You can update your mod during the Qualification & Jury Period. It's actually recommended. Make sure to not break anything.

***

### 9. Qualification Rules

During the qualification period, playtime will be counted from **July 19, 2026 to August 1, 2026**.

At the end of this period, the top qualifying mods will be reviewed.

To become a finalist, your mod must:

* Be properly registered.
* Be published before the deadline.
* Be in the correct category.
* Follow the asset rights and licensing rules.
* Follow the contest rules.
* Be playable in Beyond.

If a mod has high playtime but breaks the rules, it may be skipped or disqualified.

***

### 10. Finalist Selection

We will select **4 finalists per category**. (16 total finalists)

Finalists will be chosen after the qualification period ends.

Being selected as a finalist does not automatically mean you win a prize. Finalists still need to go through the jury period and live event ranking.

***

### 11. Final Ranking

On event day, finalists will be ranked using:

* **Community vote**
* **Jury judgment**

The final ranking will determine the winners and prize order.

The jury may consider quality, creativity, fun, polish, performance, and how well the mod fits the category.

***

### 12. Disqualification

A mod may be disqualified if:

* It was published on Beyond mod.io before **June 6, 2026**.
* It was not registered correctly.
* Team members were not properly listed.
* It uses stolen, unlicensed, or improperly credited assets.
* It breaks Beyond or mod.io rules.
* It contains hateful, harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content.
* It cheats, manipulates playtime, or abuses the voting system.
* It is submitted to the wrong category on purpose.
* It is not playable.

The organizers have the final decision if there is a rules issue.

***

### 13. Prize Rules

To receive a prize, you must:

* Be selected as a winner.
* Follow all contest rules.
* Have the rights to all assets used in your mod.
* Provide proof of asset licenses or permissions if asked.
* Be officially listed as a participant on the registered mod.

If a winner cannot prove they have the right to use their assets, they may lose their prize and the next eligible finalist may take their place.
